Diwali Story in English

On the day of Deepawali, King Rama of Ayodhya returned after his fourteen years of exile.
The heart of the people of Ayodhya was filled with joy at the arrival of their dearest king.
In the welcome of Shri Ram, the people of Ayodhya lit lamps of ghee.
The night of the black new moon of Kartik month lit up with the light of the lamps.
Since then till today the people of India celebrate this festival of light every year with joy and gaiety.
Indians believe that truth always wins and untruth is defeated.
Every time the festival of Deepawali is celebrated on the "Amavasya" day of Kartik month according to the Hindi calendar.
It is believed that on this day, during the churning of the ocean, Goddess Lakshmi had incarnated.
That is why along with lighting the lamp in every house, we also worship Mata Lakshmi ji.
